Rainbow Report on UnChristian Christians
January 24th 2012 01:10
We’ve been hearing a fair bit lately from frankly self-righteous Christians bashing us around like the little hairy balls they used to bash around at the Tennis Centre.
So I thought it was time we showed all those uncharitable, unloving, dangerous Christians where they’ve gone wrong, and how to do it right.
MARRIAGE
Marriage. They’re always on about ‘protecting’ marriage, as if marriage were some sort of giant panda that needed it’s habitat conserved. And perhaps they’re right – it does seem to be dying out, with many choosing not to get married at all.
The unChristian Christian solution is to put a noose around marriage’s neck and draw it ever tighter: restrict access to it, make even more restrictive rules.
Alex Greenwich of Australian Marriage Equality thinks otherwise, he was in Canberra today for the announcement of a new Senate enquiry into equal marriage.
MENTAL HEALTH
Margaret Court has been crying victim all the way to the bank as the community has turned the searchlight on her claims to be able to assist gays and lesbians to overcome their ‘lifestyle choice’ with the help of prayer – though of course you have to be a member of her congregation and turn over 10% of your income first.
Paul Martin used to be a spokesperson and leader for Exodus, perhaps the world’s best known organisation claiming to turn gays straight with a bit of help from God and their bank balances.
Paul was a posterboy of success for the movement, but he now realises he was gay all along and never changed, nor ever could. He left the movement and trained as a psychologist who now helps people overcome the damage done by people like Court.
CHARITY
unChristian charity was on also display when the Lilydale Baptist Church sacked Rev. Matt Glover for supporting Marriage Equality, and kicked him and his family out of their family home. Married with two young children, he needs all the support he can get.
Carl Katter, Bob’s nicer half-brother, reckons the gay community owes Matt some help, so he’s organising a benefit. And Carl is my studio guest this evening.
DIVERSITY
And finally Tony Briffa, intersex Mayor of Hobsons Bay drops by to tell us how Midsumma is travelling in those lands out west.

The lifestyle choice is a bit weird - Tracey Grimshaw's interview with Gillard in 2009 for instance. I don't reckon Grimshaw or Gillard is not married as a lifestyle choice, sometimes things just don't work out that way. They've got busy jobs. Equally, gay people are just .. gay. There are many gays in the Liberal party and the head of the London Liberal branch is gay and friends with Abbott so he told me so there you go.

I am what you would call a gay man.
I consider myself a man, equal in every way to any other human on this earth.
I find it funny that people are wanting equality (in marriage) in the eyes of Australian law, when the law in itself is nothing more than rules of a society...There will always be discrimination because of this fact...Majority rules (tyranny IMHO...where the 51% can dictate to the 49%).
Marriage used to be related to the church/family/tribe etc only. Anyone could get married if their group agreed. If we were to go back to that simple belief and disregard the "state" (majority rules) law, all people would have the ability to marry in any church/family/tribe/group they wish to create.
Let's make a church/family/tribe/group where our beliefs are welcome and don't impose on others.
Understanding what I have mentioned above, perhaps we should try to dismantle the discriminatory practice in law that allows (lawful) marriage in the first place and all the statute rules that have grown up around it.
Liberty of choice without harm should not be taken away by the state, unfortunately our government does this by placing restrictions by creating laws in the first place, such as the legal definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.
In short, any marriage should have nothing to do with government. It should be private.
Call me really old fashioned...Keep government out of any marriage. It's not their "business".
To keep the status quo only continues the never ending arguments and discrimination of the diverse peoples of the world.
