THE INQUIRIES
There are TWO parliamentary inquiries into marriage equality going on at the moment, one in the Senate, and one in the House of Representatives.
The Senate Inquiry closes next Monday, April 2.
Both Inquiries have been asking ordinary people like you and me to contact them and tell them what we think about marriage equality. Lots of people have done so.
65% AGAINST - 45% FOR
BUT 65% of them have written OPPOSING marriage equality. We want to try to even up the score
So tonight we’re giving you the opportunity to have your say in favour of equal marriage, and we’ll pass your thoughts on directly to the Senate. More here Really Long Link
TELL THE SENATE WHAT YOU THINK
All you have to do is give us a call during the show on 1300 JOY 949, that’s 1300 569 949, and leave your name, location and phone number – we’ll call you back and either talk to you live on air, or record what you want to say to the Senators.
OR you can send us an SMS 0427 569 949 with your name and number. Or you can email your details to onair at joy dot org dot au.
Then we’ll package everything into one big podcast and sent it to the Senate. You’ll be able to tell Senators in your own voice what marriage equality means to you.

To explain what it would mean to them, we have Dean Morrison of Gay Cakes, talking about the impact on small businesses, Senthorun Raj from the NSW Gay Rights Lobby and Amnesty International on the politics of the change, clinical psychologist Dr Robert Battisti on the mental health benefits of marriage and civil unions don’t work, and Marguerite Lewiswho calls herself 'the token white middle class suburban female supporter' of equality.
In the studio I have our good friend and Australian Marriage Equality spokesperson Carl Katter.
