Gay in the Country @ ChillOut Festival
As we have reported before, some people will lose out badly when Centrelink starts treating same sex couples the same as de facto couples Really Long Link – that comes in on July 1, but pressure is mounting on the government to think again. Corey Irlam has the story.
Sadness this week as we farewell one of our regular contributors, Iain Clacher, who died suddenly last weekend. Andrew Shaw will be taking a look back at Iain’s life and work.
Gays in sport, especially out gays, are thin on the ground, but the Challenging Homophobia in Sport Initiative – CHIISI for short- has found two who will be here upstairs on Saturday to talk about their experiences in a public event – yes, please come along – called Our Sporting Lives. Caroline Symonds from CHISI explains.
CHISI members get a good run tonight – Daniel Witthaus is part of the group, but he’s also involved with the Global Alliance for LGBT Education, or GALE – well that’s a better name, at least.
Thanks to the support of the Dutch government, GALE participated in a recent UNESCO conference on Inclusion in Education. Daniel will tell us about it.
And of course the ever-fragrant Kaye Sera will look beneath her bonnet and discover – gasp! Shock! Horror! A few wrinkles, as she examines Ageing Disgracefully.
